Kings College Hospital, Jeddah

AtkinsRéalis

To ensure delivery of the new King’s College Hospital in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Faithful+Gould deployed a suite of project management tools designed to increase visibility, quantify progress, and support project certainty. These tools, from custom dashboards that assess project progress down to each individual hospital room, to 360o images of every room on the site for visually assessing weekly progress, empowered all parties to confidently make informed decisions from wherever they were based, and to easily identify and address potential delays. The authoritative nature of this data also supported vital collaboration with delivery partners, reducing schedule risk and ensuring key equipment, including MRIs and other delicate medical apparatus, could be safely delivered to site.

CTFleet Link

Hitachi Construction Machinery UK

CTFleet Link is unique due to its high-frequency reporting from once every 3 seconds to once every 24 hours depending on customer requirements. Having the ability to show important operational data – such as pinpoint What3Words location, idling time, and fuel usage in real time giving end users the ability to make instant decisions when needed. In an industry-first, working closely with partners at X Watch, CTFleet Link© seamlessly integrates the operational data from any connected X Watch Safety Solutions device fitted to the machine. This gives customers the ability to also monitor this safety-critical information in real time in the CTFleet Link© fleet management solution.

HS2 Main Works C2-C3

Laminar Projects in partnership with EKFB

Laminar Projects worked in partnership with EKFB (Eiffage, Kier, Ferrovial, BAM Nuttall) to digitally transform the delivery of main works packages worth £2.3bn for HS2, saving well over £10m a year – via a massive data integration project. The key innovation on this project was the bringing together of multiple technologies and developing a repeatable development process to ensure quality. The solution included a web app for the management of documents, assets and work package information; a data warehouse built in the Microsoft Azure ecosystem which integrates once-siloed data to a single source-of-truth; and a suite of Power BI reports that became the most used on the project. Together, these ensure that everyone working on the C23 civils contracts can access accurate and timely information. Our partnership has resulted in significant improvements in design coordination, process efficiency and error reduction, ultimately reducing construction delays of this complex mega project.

North-West water treatment works

Mott MacDonald Bentley

Mott Macdonald Bentley used the Water Treatment Works North-West project as an opportunity to bring the construction phase of their projects to digital maturity in line with their design. At the heart of this was the move to 3D models as the focal point of information. BIM360 was used as a Common Data Environment (CDE) to enable this, with the compatible Leica iCon CC80 tablet able to download models directly then set out without any processing or need for drawings. An observed 80% reduction in time to issue and approve construction information and added visualisation and ease of use contributed to 100% right first time with the iCon. Digital construction was further integrated into the project with the use of intelligent machine control and laser scanning. The success of the project has led the way for the future across the business, creating a Digital Construction Strategy.
