HS2 , Chief engineer
Holding both Bachelor and Master’s degrees in engineering Tim is a chartered civil engineer with over thirty years experience in design and construction of major infrastructure projects, particularly in the railway sector.
From an original background in tunnelling and geotechnical engineering on the A55 Conwy and Penmeanbach highway tunnels, Tim moved on to hold senior positions in the construction of railways in the UK and Europe, in particular the Channel Tunnel Rail Link (now HS1) and the Jubilee Line Extension to London’s Underground network.
Tim is international director for high speed rail at CH2M and since 2012 has been seconded to HS2 where he is currently chief engineer for Phase 1 and expert witness for the Hybrid Bill Select Committee process.
Prior to joining CH2M Tim played a significant role in developing high speed rail in the UK in his position as engineering director at HS1. Immediately prior to that Tim headed the operational engineering functions on some the busiest regions of the UK’s main national rail network.
He is a frequent keynote speaker at rail industry events and acts in various capacities for rail industry working groups in the UK and Europe.
