Dr Graham Herries is director of digital technologies in the Engineering Excellence Group at Laing O'Rourke. This role provides the executive leadership for the ongoing strategic digital transformation of Laing O’Rourke.
Graham is also project director of the 36 month EU H2020 Factory of the Future project OPTIMISED which has recently completed. This €7 million EU research grant has developed and demonstrated Industry 4.0 technologies focused on providing a manufacturing scheduling optimisation system that uses real-time sensors, digital twin and AI methods to react and improve construction manufacturing performance. The project has also developed a rail digital twin to optimise Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) operations leading to significant benefits for the partner involved.
Graham holds a Ph.D. in data analytics and artificial intelligence. He is a chartered engineer, fellow of the IET and is also the co-chair of the Education and Skills Policy Panel at The IET working to advance the engineering skills agenda.
