Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre, University of Sheffield
Allan Griffin is the Head of Construction & Infrastructure Strategy at the University of Sheffield’s Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre with Boeing.
Prior to joining the AMRC, Allan graduated from the University of Exeter with a 1st class degree in civil engineering and spent 17 years at Tata Steel working in both technical and managerial roles within the Research & Development and Environment Business Functions. Throughout this time Allan kept his focus on construction and prior to leaving Tata Steel was responsible for delivering companywide BES6001 certification for their key construction products.
Allan’s current role is to look for horizontal innovation opportunities to transfer into construction the technologies that have put the AMRC at the forefront of aerospace and automotive manufacturing technology development. Ultimately helping to transform the way the buildings and infrastructure of the future are built by providing industry a sandpit to innovate in a safe, risk free environment as it transitions towards a more pre-manufactured approach to construction.
