Smart Tools for Data Collection Award
This category recognises teams that are exploiting advances in technology and tools to improve how we collect data related to projects, asset management or risk analysis in the civils sector. This can include for example instrumentation, UAVs, geophysical or monitoring equipment. There could also be a positive safety and welfare impact.
The success of the equipment should be demonstrated with reference to an ongoing or recently completed project, either as a trial or a fully-adopted technology. The entry should:
- Clearly set out the specific innovations being brought to the fore in this entry, citing any previous uses either here in the UK or worldwide
- Describe the research, development and innovation strategy that led to the development or evolution of the innovation
- Detail quantifiable, benchmarkable benefits are being realised through the use of the innovation
- Explain how the innovation will be further developed and refined and indicate the potential scope and impact it could have on the industry
Shortlisted teams will pitch their innovation to our judges and industry peers in an open session at the Festival on 24th September 2020 and feature in New Civil Engineer so you must be prepared to share your work with a wide audience.
Entries are free and you are able to enter several innovations in one category or enter as many categories as you see fit, having reviewed the specific category criteria.
Coverage will also be given across New Civil Engineer in print and online, so you must be prepared for your entry details to be publicised.
Entries from companies, project teams, joint ventures or collaborations are welcomed.
