This category recognises start-ups or small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that are driving change and innovation through development of new technology for use in the construction and civil engineering industry or on the projects the sector delivers.
This category is for start-ups and SMEs only, with under 250 employees. Larger or mature businesses should enter one of the Technology Trailblazer categories.
The entry should refer to developments and projects between January 2020 and July 2021 and highlight success and the impact they are having. Judges will looking for entries that:
- Demonstrate the solutions used over the last 18 months and the impact on recent projects
- Explain how the business delivers something different from the larger and more mature firms in the sector
- Describe the research and development that has taken place and the internal and external collaboration
- Outline the next steps for the business and ambitions for the future
Entries are free and you are able to enter several innovations in one category or enter as many categories as you see fit, having reviewed the specific category criteria.
Each entry should be supported by a maximum of two images. Images should be in landscape, more than 1MB in size, in jpeg/png format and should not be edited to include details of the category or the name/logo of the company entering (or any other annotations). Additional text (other than diagram annotation) included in supporting documents will not be used by the judging panel. The images might be used in marketing material and featured in New Civil Engineer.
